Reflection

Have you ever felt as though some folks can get away with things that others can’t? We may show favoritism based on who someone is, what they have, the position they hold, or even how we feel about them, but God doesn’t operate that way. Romans 2:5–11 reminds us that God judges each of us fairly and shows no partiality.

The Apostle Paul tells us that God will render to each person according to their deeds. This does not mean that we earn salvation by doing good works. Rather, how we live reveals something about what is going on in our hearts. What we say we believe should eventually show up in how we live, how we treat others, and the choices we make.

Paul also makes it clear that no one’s status gives them special treatment before God. The same God who sees the actions of others also sees ours, and the same truth we apply to someone else applies to us. That should cause us not only to think about how God sees other people, but to take a good look at ourselves.

As we begin this week, perhaps we should ask ourselves: Am I expecting God to overlook things in my life that I believe He should address in someone else’s? Does the way I live reflect what I say I believe? Am I showing the same fairness and grace toward others that I desire for myself? God shows no partiality, and neither should we.

Prayer

Merciful God, in the name of Jesus, thank You for being a righteous and impartial God. Help us to remember that You do not judge according to position, status, or outward appearance. Search our hearts and help us to live in a way that reflects what we say we believe. Remove favoritism and partiality from us, and teach us to treat others with fairness, grace, and love. May our lives be pleasing in Your sight and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a marvelous Monday and miraculous God-filled week!

KEEP THE FAITH!
